So after I posted about 3D printing city blocks and creating 3D prints from Google Earth, I started thinking about actually 3D printing mountains. It had to be possible, but is there anyone out there that has actually figured out how to do it?
After a brief search in Google, I discovered that yes, someone has actually done it! I found the link below on BackCountryBanter.com by Joe B where he provides a step by step guide and video on how to do it.
While the scale of his examples are considerably smaller, it still presents lots of opportunities for model railroaders to use this technique for modeling terrain on their layouts. It could be a heck of a lot less messy than plaster of Paris!
