Photo for Lyforms Small-Scale blog post about 3D printed parts for real railroadsOver a year ago, I posted about how a British company had turned to 3D printing to create replacement parts for their rolling stock that were no longer being mass produced.

I came across this article where Siemens signed a deal to produce NEW trains for a Russian train company and use 3D printers based in Russia to produce spare parts for the trains over the next 30 years.

This is yet another example of how 3D printing is practically applied towards maintaining railroad fleets.
